This year, we’re celebrating Giving Tuesday by partnering with Bethesda Mission and the Northern Dauphin Human Services Center to collect non-perishable food that will be used to feed members our communities.
Making a donation is easy!
Come by your library during its regular open hours this Tuesday (December 3) and bring your non-perishable food donation with you. There will be collection boxes at each location.
A list of suggested food drive donations and guidelines can be found at dcls.org/givingtuesday.
Who does my donation help?
Food donations made to our Harrisburg or Hummelstown Libraries will benefit Bethesda Mission’s annual fall food drive. This food drive helps them meet the needs of the community during the holidays into the new year.
Food donations made to our three northern Dauphin county locations will benefit the food pantries at Halifax United Methodist Church, St. Paul’s Church and Northern Dauphin Food Pantry through a partnership with the Northern Dauphin Human Services Center.
Most importantly, your donations demonstrate the meaningful change that happens through small acts of kindness. Your donation will provide meals to someone in your community!
Can I help The Library too?
Yes! In addition to the food drive, we will collect new and like new books that will be distributed to readers in your community during library outreach activities and MARCO visits! We’ll gladly take books for all ages, but book for children are especially appreciated.
Can’t make it to Giving Tuesday?
No sweat. Our food and book drives will run through Friday, December 20!
Prefer to make a monetary donation? You can donate directly to Bethesda Mission, the Northern Dauphin Food Pantry, or to The Library online!
