What is an Interlibrary Loan Request?
The Library provides Interlibrary Loan as a supplemental service to obtain items you want that are not owned in The Library’s collection. The Library can often borrow additional items from libraries in our district service area, from around the state, and from across the nation.
Check on your Interlibrary Loan requests in your Encore account. A few days after you have submitted a request, log in to your account and click on “Interlibrary Loan.” You will see your requested titles and the status. It will say “Awaiting Arrival” when The Library is waiting for the item, and “Ready for Pick-up” when it is ready for checkout at the home library listed on your account.
Rules of Interlibrary Loan:
- Use Interlibrary Loan to request items that are not owned by The Library. Please check The Library’s catalog to see if we have local resources before requesting Interlibrary Loan.
- Interlibrary Loan should be used to request older items. If the item was published within the last 6 months, do NOT use this form, instead please suggest the title for purchase
- At this time, members are allowed to request an unlimited number of Interlibrary Loan requests within the Capital Area Library District (our partners in Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties) and 3 loans outside of the district. Members with requests beyond the limits will be notified of cancellations and may resubmit requests the following month. Loans may take longer than usual to arrive due to quarantines and availability of lenders. We appreciate your patience as we resume our services.
- You must read and agree to the Terms of Use for Interlibrary Loan to submit your request.
- You can find the Interlibrary Loan Policy here.
