Partnerships with other community agencies provide an important and efficient way to extend the reach of both organization’s missions.

 

Dauphin County Probation & Parole

This collaboration between The Library and Dauphin County channels donated children’s books to families who are in the probation and parole system. In addition, the partnership provides information on resources available to them at The Library and free programs that they can attend.  This gives these families the opportunity to learn and grow.

JumpStreet

jump streetPromoting Reading and Literacy

The current Library partnership with JumpStreet is focused on promoting reading via the Big Read initiative, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, designed to restore reading to the center of American culture. The NEA presents The Big Read in partnership with Arts Midwest. The Big Read brings together partners across the country to encourage reading for pleasure and enlightenment.

TempleNEST is designed to assist nonprofit and governmental human service agencies to effectively serve their communities through best practices in management, research and training.

This partnership is designed assist nonprofit and governmental human service agencies to effectively serve their communities through best practices in management, research and training. The Library offers information on TempleNEST services to area nonprofits via brochures and other materials in its libraries. Temple University, in turn, provides information on library services, including the Foundation Center resources at East Shore Area Library, to its customers via newsletters and other outlets.

Information Access for the Visually Impaired

institute on disabilitiesThis partnership provides equipment and specialize resources for the visually impaired at the East Shore Area Library. This includes access to the internet and electronic resources as well as to large print, Braille, and recorded items.
