Every child matters. And books matter to every child.

That simple belief is at the heart of Project Open Book (POB). Even in the age of iPhones and eReaders, the number of books in a child’s home is a key predictor of his or her future success in school and life. POB strives to:

  • Give children books they can call their own
  • Spark a love of reading at an early age
  • Open children and their families to the world of opportunities that exists for them at The Library
  • Meet children where they are when they cannot come to The Library
  • Launch literacy and a lifelong love of learning

Why is owning books important?
