Page

Summary

Dauphin County Library System is seeking a page at the Kline Library to empty book drops, check in materials using the circulation system, return library materials to the shelves or display units and maintain order of materials on shelves and display units. The page also assists patrons with the use of library equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Basic computer keyboarding skills and completion of eighth grade are required. If under age 18, a work permit is required. The successful candidate will be able to lift 30 pounds and reach and bend to place materials on shelves, as well as, kneeling and sitting on the floor during programs.


Rate of Pay

The starting rate is $7.60/hr.


Schedule

The hours of the position are 12 hours per week with flexibility but may include evening and Saturday hours. The position duration is until end of August 2017.

Summer Outreach Assistants

Summary

Dauphin County Library System is seeking three part-time Summer Outreach Assistants to support our outreach program. Primary responsibilities: Implements pre-designed programs at outreach visits, programs and events, and occasionally at library locations throughout Dauphin County; promotes the library’s summer reading club and other library services and resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in education; or minimum of 2 years of experience in child care or education setting; or 2 years of experiences in the formal educational system. Plus 1 year working with children and experience using MS Office Suite or equivalent and searching the internet in a Windows environment. Requires: Independent transportation to various libraries and community locations daily, professional customer service and communication skills, ability to move library materials within and between locations, ability to retrieve and place books on shelves, sufficient mobility to perform programming for children.


Rate of Pay

The starting rate is $12.12/hr.


Schedule

Each position will be 24 hours per week, generally Monday through Thursday 9:30 am – 4:00 pm.  Includes occasional evening or weekend shifts, scheduled in advance.  Start date: June 2017   End date:  August 2017 

Born To Read Specialist

Summary

Specializes in the Born To Read program, which includes planning, implementing, presenting, tracking, marketing and evaluating the program in conjunction with various departments. Presents the program to babies and adults in the library and in an outreach environment.

Minimum Qualifications

BA or BS degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. Knowledge of and/or courses in children’s literature, child development, and educational methods. Proficient in using computers, laptops, tablets, etc. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. One year experience in working with children and education. Requires a valid driver’s license for travel to various libraries and community locations on a frequent basis, professional customer service and communication skills, ability to move library materials within and between locations, ability to retrieve and place books on shelves, sufficient mobility to perform programming for children.


Rate of Pay

$16.00 per hour


Schedule

The full time schedule will include days, evenings and weekends to be determined upon the needs of programming and outreach activities.

Online Content Coordinator

Summary

The Online Content Coordinator assists with the creation and posting of content on The Library’s social media platforms and online media calendars. Works collaboratively with the Website Manager, Community Relations Department, and other library departments to ensure that social media posting is current, ensuring consistency, accuracy and compliance with The Library Website and Social Media Policy and the Brand Standards Manual.The Online Content Coordinator assists with the creation and posting of content on The Library’s social media platforms and online media calendars. Works collaboratively with the Website Manager, Community Relations Department, and other library departments to ensure that social media posting is current, ensuring consistency, accuracy and compliance with The Library Website and Social Media Policy and the Brand Standards Manual.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Advanced degree or coursework in communications, journalism, marketing, or another related field is preferred. Excellent communication skills and two years of experience on a variety of social media platforms are required. One year general office experience including dealing with the public. Two years active experience using MS Office Suite or equivalent and searching the Internet in a Windows environment. Ability to produce accurate, grammatically correct written communication. Experience in an online content management system and/or graphics software is preferred but not required. Requires a PA driver's license, excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted.


Rate of Pay

$10.00 per hour


Schedule

The schedule will include flexible daytime hours.  The position is at the McCormick Riverfront Library.

Public Services Assistants

Summary

Performs customer services, uses computer software for circulation of materials, and offers basic reference service. Interacts courteously with the public in person and by telephone; opens or closes the building.

High school diploma or GED. Training or experience with computer keyboarding and basic office software. One year experience dealing with the public. Ability to lift 30 lbs. unassisted to place materials on high and low shelves. Ability to reach and bend to place books on shelves, kneeling and sitting on the floor during tasks.


Rate of Pay

$9.55 per hour


Schedule

There are two Full Time positions and one Part Time position currently available.


The Full Time position at William H. & Marion C. Alexander Library has the schedule:

  • Monday - Friday 9:30:00 am to 5:30 pm

 

The Full Time position at McCormick Riverfront Library has the schedule:

  • Monday 9:45 am-6:15 pm, Tuesday 9:15 am-5:15 pm, Wednesday 9:30 am-5:30 pm, Thursday 10:00 am– 5:45 pm, Friday 9:30 am-5:15 pm until July 1
  • Tuesday 10:15 am- 7:15 pm, Wednesday 8:15 am-5:15pm, Thursday 10:15 am- 7:15 pm, Friday 9:30 am-5:15 pm, Saturday 9:30 am-2:15 pm after July 1
     

The Part Time position at McCormick Riverfront Library has the schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 2:15 pm-6:15 pm and Friday 9:30 am-4:00 pm until July 1
  • Tuesday 3:15 pm-7:15 pm, Wednesday 12:30 pm-5:15 pm, Friday 10:30 am-3:30 pm and Saturday 9:30 am- 2:15 pm after July 1
