    src fun fest 47Join The Library and your fellow Summer Readers at Fort Hunter, August 30, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Summer Reading Fun Festival!

    Children who have completed Summer Reading logs and received a certificate, who have completed a Club Card, or who complete Dr. Dewrong's Exploding Table Adventure and received the certificate, are invited to join the Fizz Boom Fun Festival! Teens and adults who have completed Summer Reading logs are invited to attend as well.

    Last year's first all-county, off-site Fun Festival at Fort Hunter was a HUGE success, and this year we aim to be even better.

    Grand prizes will be drawn at the Festival. You need not be present to win.

    The Fun Festival will feature:

    Help the precocious Little Red stay on the right path and watch out for the Big Bad Wolf! Will the Woodcutter save the day? Silly songs and dances will keep your toes a tappin’ in this classic that will have you laughing all the way to Grandma’s house!
    11:00 a.m. on the Corncrib Stage

    Junk Rock Drumming Ensemble
    Performing on oil drums, plastic tubes, milk cans and various unusual objects, JUNK ROCK makes the audience part of every show! With comedic wit, virtuosic drumming, and unique showmanship, JUNK ROCK keeps the crowd movin’ and groovin’ to the beat
    12:00 p.m. on the Corncrib Stage

    Zoo America presents Animals Science Rocks!
    Learn how wild animals have helped us gain a better understanding of physics, biology, biotechnology, chemistry, and medicine in this 45-minute program featuring live animals. An encore performance of the Zoo America show featured in select Libraries this summer.

    Library Activities
    Lego Club, Parachute Adventure, Explore Art and more! Many of our best-loved Library activities will be available throughout the festival for everyone’s enjoyment, alongside other original crafts and games.

    Special Activities
    Our most popular favorites from last year’s Fun Fest are back! Come get your locks twisted into crazy carnival hair; your face transformed by a marvelous face artist, and be amazed by the antics of a fabulous balloon sculptor!


    A selection of popcorn, cookies and other treats will be available at the picnic pavilion beginning at 12:00 pm. Pavilion tables are open throughout the festival to cool down with a bottle of water or a BYO lunch. Bottled water provided in part by our program partner Representative Patty Kim.
