Joan Y. Leopold Children’s Book Week Sponsorship

A Project Open Book Initiative

Joan Y Leopold Children’s Book Week

cbw sollyEach year, The Library helps to create excitement about reading and learning through the Joan Y. Leopold Children’s Book Week Celebration. This event features a visit from a children’s author or illustrator at two or more DCLS locations, Storytimes tied to the theme of the selected book, craft activities related to the theme in libraries and at events, and a free book given to each family who attends the author events. Each $250 sponsorship funds 20 books for families.

The events are made possible by the Joan Y. Leopold Endowment Fund. Joan Y. Leopold, a lifelong resident of Dauphin County, served as a board member of the Dauphin County Library System for more than 20 years. A tireless advocate for both child and adult literacy, her belief that reading opens a world of education and imagination lives on in her family, students and all those she touched through her efforts.

Children’s Book Week is a Project Open Book initiative.
